Early Life & High School Career
Marcus Wills emerged as one of the most accomplished basketball players in New Bedford High School history. He joined the varsity team as a freshman in 1992 and quickly made his mark. By his sophomore season, Wills was leading New Bedford in scoring and earning recognition across Eastern Massachusetts. That year, he was selected to both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-State teams, and helped the team secure the state championship with a 70–67 victory over St. John’s High School.
In his junior and senior seasons, Wills continued to excel. He was again named an All-State performer by both publications, and in 1995 he received national attention when Nike selected him for its Top 100 All-American Team. He also earned the Massachusetts Sportsman of the Year Award that same year. Over his four-year career with the Crimson, Wills finished as the all-time leading scorer in New Bedford High School history — a distinction that remains a significant part of his legacy.
College Career
After graduating high school in 1995, Wills continued his basketball journey at the collegiate level. He began at Northeastern University, where he played as a freshman guard during the 1995–96 season. At Northeastern he averaged nearly 10 points per game and was recognized as part of the North Atlantic Conference All-Freshman team.
He later transferred and played at Olney Central Junior College for a season before moving on to the University of Maine, where he completed his college career — continuing his role as a guard and contributing as a scorer and playmaker.
Post-Basketball & Personal Life
Following his playing days, He has stayed involved in the sport by working as a basketball trainer and running his own training organization.
Now Marcus is ready for his next chapter at Farmhous Sports Academy.
